Husband and Wife, Frank and Ferret are having a baby. Ferret took her pregnancy test but didn’t get any results. Frank has been receiving serious stomach pain so Ferret took him to the nurse.

The nurse that they were given to them, gave him the pregnancy test and her jaw dropped open as she saw the results, it was positive. Ferret looked over her shoulder and gasped.

“Frank, you're pregnant,” Ferret whispered to her husband.

The nurse told her that there was nothing that they could do and that he would have to live with this.

An Interview with Amy Zhang by Nihitha Mahabhashyam

WHAT I LEARNED

Well, I learnt all about  writing, and how to become an author and things like that.

MY FAVORITE THINGS

Technically, my most favorite thing I did in this camp was that stocking thing when we went around the building in groups of 2 or 3 (me and Olivia eves-dropped on everyone).

WHAT WE DID

So basically, we wrote books and typed on the computer for research, and wrote flash fiction- we had a contest! We did lots more, I just don’t have to type that.

CONCLUSION

So yeah that’s really all we did, even though there was a little more- did I mention that our teacher, Guy Stewart, is an actual author?  Anyway, bye!

Land by Jaden Cai

Surrounded by water
Made from matter
Different environments
And I don't think it has any mints
It's hard to survive
If you can't revive
That's only if your stranded
Because your plane couldn't be landed
There may be grass
Only if the mass
Of grass is more than sand
Of course.
Hopefully this land won't cause any remorse
Because this piece of land
Is not for demand

The War-torn Boy by Jaden Cai

A poor child in war-torn France was struggling among his family. The child was on the streets trying to sell bread while his older siblings were working in a coal mine. His parents were sick so they walked around begging for money. The poor child grew up in France that no one knew before the war. And now, the brain of that child was telling him to give up.

As he returned to the small alley where he lived in. He found something shiny on the ground! He reached down and touched that mysterious small shiny object. His mind swirled and a small ghost appeared in front of him. It looked just like him. The ghost was saying something to himself. “Never give up, Never give up, Never give up” The ghost slowly faded away.

The young boy walked home. On the way back, he says a poor adult sleeping in the alley. The young boy had hope for this person so he dropped the shiny object in the person's lap and silently tip-toed away.

As he reached home, his parents were sitting down on the ground not saying anything. They looked so down. Where were his siblings? He soon realized that they died in the coal mine. The pay that they worked for did not even come to them. Sadness and anger overwhelmed him and he collapsed on the ground.

Trying to think of something good he found the same ghost that he saw “Never give up, Never give up, Never give up”

FLASH FICTION #7

I felt the rush of pain go through my body as I saw my train cart pull up.
“Be careful and make friends!” my mom said sounding scared for me
“I will be, I will be I promise” I said as I grabbed my bag and clutched my books.
As I walked into the train car I saw so many kids whom I didn’t know.
“Hey give me my books back!” one of the boys yelled
I ignored them and found a train car.

                             The end

Lighting World by Ginna Molitor

In a world where everything is made up of light. The trees, flowers, houses, even the people. Now take a second, sit back, and imagine if that was our world.

“Cynthia! It’s time for dinner!” my Aunt Tammy called out from the other side of the apartment.
“...Coming” I somewhat angirly called out.
I was not hungry but I knew my aunt loved to cook, and she was good at it to! I sat down at the table and awaited for my dish.
“Okay folks, for a starter we’ve got a lovely Avocado salad with a light basil dressing” my Aunt said in a light and airy tone.
I didn’t even like salad but this looked amazing and I couldn’t wait to eat. After eating the salad my aunt brought out the main course.
“For the main course we have got a cheese and pepper lasagne”
Once again it looked so amazing and I was suddenly as hungry as a hippo. And dessert, the last course was of course, always my favorite.
“And for dessert we’ve got a light and fluffy strawberry and lime cheesecake”
Cheesecake...my favorite thing in the world. The sweetness of the fruit or toppings, softness, smoothness and somewhat savoriness of the cheese and the crunchy, sweetness of the crust. What’s not to love?

After dinner I went out to explore. My aunt had to go work a late shift at her work so I could basically do whatever I choose to do. I grabbed my black, rusty bike and went down the streets of Queenken. After a while it had gotten quite dark and I was about to head on back when I noticed a dark alleyway. It didn’t look sketchy it just looked extremely dark. The lights were off and the street looked wet. I was trying to turn my bike around but it had gotten stuck on a rock. All of a sudden I heard a very loud “boom” and    the sound of rain started pouring down. I had never seen rain before. I only knew what it sounded like from movies. I didn’t know what to do as the storm got bigger, the rain got heavier and the sirens got louder. I ran inside one of the buildings in the alleyway and hid. From what I saw it was an old abandoned warehouse. The walls were grey and the paint was peeling off. It then occurred to me.
“Our world is made out of light and light only. Natures light, nothing else” my mother had told me before she went to war.
“If it’s made out of light what is going to happen to our wor-” I suddenly got cut off by a strike of lightning hitting a...control panel?
The panel set on fire and all of a sudden the whole area around me dimmed black. I was very confused on what was happening. My whole life the world had always been bright and sunny, everyone used to be happy. Now it was dark and gloomy.

I got over the state of mind I was in and went exploring in the warehouse. I found so many cool and unique things. A rusty Iphone 8, a 1970’s computer, and the thing I’m most proud of, a blackberry flip phone. As I kept exploring I found more and more stuff but I won’t get into that stuff. As I kept going down the dusty halls I found a dark room. It looked like it was quite new. I crept around and looked the droors up and down. The buttons on the metal slabs reminded me fondly of the doctors office. I pressed a big yellow button two times after exploring for a few hours. Once I pressed the button the light of the world quickly turned on and then off. I quickly realized what was happening. My whole life was a lie. The world wasn’t made out of light. It was controlled by electronics.
“Oh gosh, oh gosh, oh gosh” The thoughts were running through my head like they were in a marathon. They definitely won.

As my tennis shoes hit the ground I ran faster and faster. I found the closest News station and before stepping in the door
“Young lady I’m gonna need to stop you right there,” said the man in the black tux.
“Sir I really have to get going here. I have a story for the news”
    “I’m sorry ma’am I can’t let you pas-”
Suddenly the man was on the ground. I didn’t know why. I hadn’t hit him that hard…
As I walked into the news filming room one of the News reporters looked at me
“How did you get in here hon?” She said in a sweet voice
“Well I actually need to show you guys something…”
“And what is this “Something” you want to show us?” A co-worker of hers said “Is it about the light going out?” He said looking excited
“It’s good that you asked, because, yes it is!” I exclaimed
“Oh thank god!” The woman reporter yelled “We’ve been looking for stories about that all day long!”
“Well it’s not really a story...it’s more of a, uhm, situation”
As we all walked over to the warehouse it was still very dark out and the News Reporters had brought their whole camera crew. I had never really been on camera before and I didn’t really want to be. As we stepped into the room dark clouds of dust, which you couldn’t even see because there was no light, puffed up into the air and you could smell it. I was so glad I didn’t have any allergies to dust…

I showed them everything I had seen and somehow, they believed me.
“I think she’s right! Completely spot on!” said one of the filmers. The way he had said it made me think he was sarcastic but the giant grin on his face made me think otherwise. I kept thinking I was wrong. Maybe I didn’t want this to be the truth? That sounds like a me thing to do. As I was overthinking someone else ran into the room
“Order from the court! Get out! Get out!” a tiny woman yelled pointing to the exit of the warehouse. Her clothes looked brand new and her hair looked exceptionally soft and shiny.
“Married to a lawyer” I thought in my head.
As I was thinking, the little lady pressed the yellow button I had pushed just a few hours ago. The light suddenly turned back on, all of the light. The trees were no longer withered, the flowers were standing up tall and the fish were swimming again.
    “Now go home. Everyone!”
As I rode my bike home everyone seemed to have forgotten about everything. Everyone was back to smiling, which by the way, ew smiling is weird. I mean you're just curving your mouth in a way that makes you seem “happy”, but anyways that’s off topic.
As I rode my bike home I heard someone say
“What happened to the darkness!?” they exclaimed
I got no view of who they were or what they looked like but they sounded like a little boy. He sounded fine so I didn’t worry about it too much.

I was finally home. It was getting even darker out then before I had left now and  as I wandered into the apartment and grouchy walked up the stairs I found my bed. It had been a long night and I didn’t feel like brushing my teeth or washing my face so I climbed into my bed, pulled my blue covers over my now exhausted body and fell asleep.

Five Dogs act like celebrities at the dog park by Ellie Osowski

Five dogs come to the dog park on a normal day, about to make history,
they come dressed in very expensive designer clothes.

Also wearing tons of makeup and designer jewelry including rolex’s.
They arrived in a limo instead of walking, there owner must be very rich.

They had at least a dozen reporters following them. There’s a movie that’s
brand new, starring the five dog celebrities in “A day at the dog park”. So
buy your tickets now because most theaters are already almost sold out.
And I think once they have it in dvd, there’s not even going to be any at

your local store because it will probably be sold out.

Dying stars by Ellie Osowski and Beatrice Greenberg

Stars shining in the sky,
Burning out slowly like candles,
Making an appearance every night,
Until one night the clouds cover them.

Every star will die eventually,
We humans don’t really know the night sky,
All the stars in the sky could die and we
people wouldn’t know.

But for now we can enjoy the stars,
While we watch them from afar,
See you tomorrow stars,

Goodnight.

WHAT I LEARNED THIS WEEK!

This week I have learned about poetry, flash fiction, and many authors like Gary Paulsen, GordOn Korman, and Sam Hay .I’ve also learned about commercials and  skits. I learned about nanoism and what they do.I learned how to write essays too.But I personally like the commercials the best. -- Jerry Lou

*

Well, I learnt all about writing, and how to become an author and things like that. Technically, my most favorite thing I did in this camp was that stocking thing when we went around the building in groups of 2 or 3 (me and Olivia eves-dropped on everyone). So yeah that’s really all we did, even though there was a little more- did I mention that our teacher, Guy Stewart, is an actual author? Anyway, bye! -- Nihitha Mahabhashyam

1 Write every day it helps you practice to get better; 2 There is no such thing as writer’s block, you can still write you just choose to not believe that, and won’t write; 3 Write your whole story and then look back, and change and critique grammar and punctuation and other mistakes; 4 Read your story out loud it helps you realize mistakes, that you don’t realize reading in your head; 5 Make your first sentence the best sentence make it very long, most people only read the first sentence of an article or story, and choose if there going to finish reading it.-- Ellie Osowski

*

“Too many facts can bog your reader down. Don't lose track of your story. I think that the best thing to do when there is a lot of information in your story is to drop hints in the beginning of your story, then confirm it later. But don’t include scenes that their only purpose is to be used as an info dump, the reader won’t be able to understand it all."-Christopher Scalan (the Writer magazine) Shared by Colin Marshall

*

I learned that a haiku has to be about nature and that you should never send a handwritten item to a publisher. -- Manuela French

*

What I learned this week is that when you are writing a story or a short one. You should probably write in one sitting. This is because when you write and then you stop, then you might forget what the story is about! -- Jaden Cai

*

“One thing I learned from the magazine, was to develop a clear setting, especially in a mystery. The reader should be familiar with the settings. It should all influence the characters. There should be specific details, it can develop the story. You should be concise and specific, settings which the reader would remember. Activate the senses of the reader.

“From class, we learned all kinds of things. Some which were memorable were the Journalism and the Global Daily Hotwire, fiction, and the flash fiction, and definitely the commercials and skits. We learned about how writing changes based on the topic, and what things to focus on. We also learned about the world of publishing, the strict guidelines, publishing in a magazine, and making money off of publishing.” – Amar Dani

*

"What I learned this week is, how I can get published, how to be a better writer but the most important thing I learned is that some people think writing is just about earning money. I heard people talking about "Whoa, look at how much money you get for publishing to this website" and then they would just enter their info and click the "send" button. Sure, money is great but it is a BONUS for if your work is actually good. Don't focus on the money, focus on the writing." ~Ginna Molitor

*

I learned in the writing to get published that getting published is harder than it seems. Writing to get published has taught me how to write to get published. It has also taught me that writing can make you big bucks. -- Amogh Rajagopal

*

“I learned that in writing you should never give up. Because if you do, then you will never make it to reach your goal. If you stop writing and give up, you will never be able to reach your goal. But if you do, you will be most likely to become an author, and everyone will know- you are positive and will never give up.” - Nihitha Mahabhashyam

*

“I learned how to make people buy your writing by writing non-fiction books because it takes up 3⁄4 of all types of writing. I also learned just keep on going even if you get rejected or you will never become a writer. Just never give up and you might become a successful author one day.”   - Olivia Peng

*

This week in Mr. Guy’s class, I learned a lot about writing to get published and how to entertain an audience. I learned about flash fiction, Twitter fiction, and about 5 Minute Mysteries. I learned that you will get rejected multiple times but you should not give up if you want to be a writer. I learned this from my great teacher, Guy Stewart. I also learned that some people can only write when in a certain place or in a certain state of mind. -Paolo Costea

Nine Year Old Wedding by Amogh Rajagopal and Paolo Costea

McButteface and Bartholemew Bigboo Poochie got married on December 3rd, Tabathinarina
2018 at 12:00 AM. The wedding took place at Dill Pickles Home for Insane Children.

The wedding ring was a piece of gum. It was a very emotional wedding.

The wedding was the first ever wedding for a pre-teen in recent American history. All the bridesmaids had Hello-Kitty dresses and lipstick by their eyes.

The best men had Transformers Rescue Bots bow-ties, and chocolate mustaches.
The priest was Bartholemew’s grandma.

But at the bachelors party, everyone died of chocolate milk poisoning.

Except the grandma. (EDITOR: Who is in jail on suspicion of murder.)
