The Wolves by Collin Marshall

I sat against the oak, escaping Katrine’s whining. Howls arose deep in the forest, sending shivers down my spine.
Whimpers sounded close by, possibly a dog’s. Thick moist fog tickled my legs. Twigs snapped underneath as I came upon a red wolf, sitting in red grass, blood dripping from its maw. The air smelled like iron.
I scrambled back towards home, wolves racing past.

“Samet!” I crashed through the broken door to Mother holding Katrine, cornered by wolves. I snuck behind, knocking its maw with a poker, sending it scampering. I lifted the cellar doors, and we descended into darkness.

Pollution by Gabriel, Jerry, Amar, and Collin Marshall

Gray smoke hangs over us all,
Like a dark blanket of neglect,
It invades our waters and streets,
Creating continents of trash.
It threatens all of earth's life,
Not afraid to destroy our planet.

It won't stop piling to the top,
Unless we let the plastic drop.

We are swimming in garbage,
Chest-deep
We cannot just cope,
When there is still hope.

Think.

Think before you drink,
Think before you eat,
Think before you toss.

And we might be able to undo what was lost.
