A long time ago, in a faraway kingdom, there lived Potatoes. There were no humans back then. The potatoes were sad because it was not a unicorn
It was jealous, So they asked a magic genie to be a Unicorn Potatoes. The Magic genie said,
“Yes, of course, why not! Just remember when you do this you can’t change back and there will be consequences ,”
      The Potato’s obviously said yes
“Yes, yes! Of course!”
The potatoes didn't even ask what the consequences were.
“Abracadabra, you guys are now Unicorn Potatoes,” the genie said.

The Magic Watch by Wendy Xu

We lived in Paris for our whole life. Just you and me, our mother died when you were born. After mom has died our dad has been drunk almost every day.  So I got everything we needed to go on airlines to somewhere we would have a better life. I woke you up near midnight. We didn’t live to far from the airport, so we ran to the airport.

Now were at Mongolia, while we ordered a Taxi you were sleeping on my shoulder. When we arrived to our new home. You ran room to room, up to down, and bathroom to bathroom. I asked you if you want to go shopping. You just nodded and gave a sign asking where’s Papa. I ignored it, than you started crying since you were scared. I knelt down and whispered to you something that you could only know. Afterward we headed to a store. I wanted a watch for my birthday. Something caught my eye and I picked it up. It was the perfect watch. I bought for 70 gems. After we got the watch I got some bubble tea for you.

When we got back home you turned on the TV while I was cooking rice and beans. But something interrupted your cartoon, it was the news. The news said that an airplane crash while it was heading toward Mongolia and the plane was one of the United airlines. Then I realized that Layla was on that plane that crashed. You were pale like you saw 100 ghosts floating around the house. I dashed up the stairs and slammed the door. But a button on my watch turned right, and I teleport the past and watched Layla’s death. Cold icy tears runs down my cheek, then realized that I was in the future, at Layla’s funeral, and it was snowing. After that I teleport back to the present, and ran down the stairs. I gave you the biggest hug I ever gave anyone, and I told you that tomorrow was the first day of school.

Chirp! Chirp! I went down stairs and made breakfast. You asked me if you could be in the same class as me.

I shook my head and whispered “ Sorry,” you felt lonely afterward.

I looked out the window and saw 2 fifth grade bullies, they were harming you. So I clicked the button on my watch, I stopped time and dragged them out of your sight. I put them in the principal’s office and wrote: Bully Alert. I ran back to my classroom, and resumed.

After class we're going back home, when we were crossing the road, I tried to stop time, but it was too late. You were knocked out by a car. I quickly dragged your body out in case you weren’t fully dead. So I planned to sacrifice myself, so you can live longer. I turned the button right than left than right again, I teleport right before you got hit. I wrapped my arms around you, and pushed you off the road. Than i got hit.

Drip, drop, drip.

“Wasn’t that five years ago, I’m 11 now,” Nina murmured, cold tears went down her cheek.
She grabbed the watch and it was cracked, she wrapped it around her wrist and thought about her sister’s promise.

“Don’t worry about a thing I promise that I will protect you,” Nina’s older sister, Marinara, whispered.

Knock. Knock.

“I’ll get it!” shouted Nina, she opened the door and saw her drunk father.

“Come back, you two, I want you two back home with me,” he said, with a drunk accent.
“No you can’t, Mariana is gone, she’s gone,” whimpered Nina.

“I'm sorry can you at least come home, I promise I will treat you better,”he whimpered.
But then Nina felt Mariana telling her to not trust a guy like him, she felt her in her heart.
“No! ,” she shouted.

Nina slammed the door and found a flier.

“ I always wanted to play piano,”she said.

Now she is a piano teacher to all students younger than eleven.

Storm Part 1 by Amy Zhang and Wendy Xu

“Two
of us. We were the only ones left, the only ones to make it to the island. We were still on our boat, a quite big one for just 2 tweens, and a non-caring driver. We came with many people, including our, well our parents. There was a terrible disease that spread
through the boat, we don’t know why, but we didn’t catch it. But anyways      we’re almost there now. Just… 2 more days, at least that’s what we think.”
“*Yawn*, wake up Eleanor,” I woke up my twin sister.
“I’m already awake,” Eleanor replied.
“”Oh, what have you been doing then?” I asked.
“I’ve been somersaulting back and forth!” Eleanor screamed with laughter.
I giggled at the thought of my usually quiet sister playing around.
“Um, anyway now that I’m awake what do you want to do?” I asked.
Eleanor ignored my question and started to walk to the storage room. I followed her in and we got a game board to play with.
The day flew past as we entertained ourselves and soon it was night. We went to the closet and got our pajamas on. We both went to sleep and we woke up to the sound of rumbling thunder.
“Elisa, Elisa, Elisa, wake up, look outside,” Eleanor grabbed my arm and pulled me to our window, outside I saw pouring rain, lightning , a hole in our boat and we saw our boat driver floating on a tube in the water.  We grabbed lots of wood and ran outside to control the wheel, it was too late, our journey was about to end.
“Quick, Eleanor, grab some tape,” I shouted. But Eleanor wasn’t there.
She reappeared a second later with the biggest roll of tape I had ever seen.
“Elisa, spread the wood out and connect it with tape,” Eleanor ordered.
We got to work, we spread out the wood and quickly taped the wood together.
“Get into the water and bring the plank!” I yelled.
“Will do!” Eleanor shouted back.
We both worked together, we jumped into the ocean and put down the plank. All of a sudden, we saw a huge wave coming towards us.
